LaserTRACER - measuring sub-micron in space
What is the LaserTRACER?
For highest precision applications the LaserTRACER was developed in cooperation with the German Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) and the National Physical Laboratory (NPL) in the UK. It is a self tracking laser interferometer. The laserbeam tracks automatically a reflector anddetermines the distances with highest accuracy in all directions.

What is unique about the LaserTRACER?
Compared to conventional devices the LaserTRACER has an unprecedented accuracy of the center of rotation due to a patented system: A sphere with a form deviation of just a couple of nanometers is used as reference for the interferometer. Therefore, the mechanical errors of the rotation axes are fully compensated.
Furthermore, the LaserTRACER is considerable more compact than conventional devices.

What is the purpose of the LaserTRACER?
The LaserTRACER is the ideal instrument for the calibration und testing of CMMs and machine tools with our software solutions TRAC-CAL and TRAC-CHECK.
The LaserTRACER in action on a machine tool
Instead of the tool or probe of the machine a reflector is mounted. The LaserTRACER can track the actual path of the machine in the entire working volume.
